INDUSTRY NEWS

According to David Serg, Group General

Manager at Preston Hire, the company’s

focus is to build brand awareness and to

actively support and develop upcoming

young Australian talent.

“With the drive and desire to be more

involved, Preston Hire Racing was born

with our sponsorship in March 2015.

“We are excited to again have Lee

Holdsworth, the reigning 2015 Driver’s

Award winner as the driver for season

2016,” David said.

David said being a sponsor of the V8

Supercars is a great fit for Preston Hire

and for its connections within the

construction industry.

In line with the company’s policy

of helping young people to realise

their ambitions, Preston Hire Racing

has started a program for upcoming

Australian talent, and is also support

sponsor of:

• Luis Leeds, DreamMotorsport,

Formula 4;

• Nicholas Schembri, Nick Starr Racing,

Australian Kart Championship;

• Daniel Needham, Sid Moore Racing,

Sprint Cars;

• Grahame, Corey, Caine Fraser, GCC

Motorsports, Radio Control.

“We have been sponsoring junior driver in

the Formula 4 category, Luis Leeds who is

only 15 years of age.

“At the end of last year Luis won a race in

Mexico and immediately following this he

was invited to be a member in the 2016

Red Bull Junior Team in Europe which is

about as exciting as it gets for a young

guy with a passion to become a Formula

One racer,” David said.

The appointment to Redbull’s Junior

program has come early for the 15 year

old. Luis Leeds captured the attention of

Redbull with his win in the F4 support

race at last year’s Mexico Grand Prix.

Redbull has been running a successful

junior team since 2001 producing

current F1 racers Sebastian Vettel, Daniel

Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat.

Luis will participate in the British

F4 Series with the prestigious Arden

Motorsport Team based in Banbury,

England. The announcement will see Luis

moving to the UK for the 2016 season.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. It

has all come as a surprise and I’m grateful

for this chance,” Luis said.

“This is only a first step; it’s no guarantee

I will make it to F1. It’s now up to me to

make something of this opportunity. I also

want to say a big thank you to everyone

who has given me support in 2015. To

Preston Hire and Peter O’Shea for their

generous sponsorship and to Dream

Motorsport for all the development this

year.”

David said: “It’s great to see young talent

achieving something significant. We’re

glad to be a part of that.”
