The Rental Show 2017, the American

Rental Association’s annual convention

and trade show will be held 26 February

to 1 March in Orlando, Florida, USA.

On the agenda for The Rental Show are

three days of the trade show, which will

feature the latest rental products from

more than 600 exhibitors displaying

construction/industrial equipment,

general tool/light construction equipment

and party/special event equipment. The

show floor will be open from Monday, 27

February, through Wednesday, 1 March.

On Sunday, 26 February, a full day

of educational seminars will include

sessions on finance, management,

internet marketing and other topics of

importance to rental business owners

and managers. Three rental town hall

sessions – covering each inventory area

– also will be held, where attendees can

ask questions of their peers. Networking

events will be held throughout The Rental

Show, with a special reception specifically

for international attendees on Tuesday,

28 February.

The schedule for The Rental Show 2017 is

Events & Tents, a day-long workshop for

those in party and special event rental,

will be on Saturday, 25 February. The

workshop includes seminars on a variety

of event rental topics, a networking

breakfast and lunch and an evening

reception.

Registration for The Rental Show will

open online in early September, with

special savings available through

Hire Association Europe and Event

Hire Association’s (HAE EHA) Hire

Convention will return to Loughborough’s

Holywell Park from 21–22 September

2016.

Focusing on issues facing the industry,

including ‘future proofing’ the sector, this

year’s theme will be ‘Smarter – Safer –

Stronger’.

Some of the HAE EHA’s major initiatives

will be high on the agenda including:

• the widening skills gap and attracting

new talent into the sector via the

Future Hirers scheme, fully supported

by the Department of Work and

Pensions (DWP);

• adherence to best practise and

achieving SafeHire certification since

UK Hire Convention focuses on being ‘smarter – safer – stronger’

Kim’s presentation included focusing on

his background, including stories from

his cricketing career and how some of

those lessons have helped him during his

business life. Brad Booth,WA President

said Kim gave some lessons everyone can

use in their personal and business lives.

Kim is high profile in Perth through his

role as a cricket commentator for Channel

Nine and a sporting broadcaster on Radio

6PR (Perth’s equivalent of 2UE). He is also

Managing Director of a building industry

company and was a State Selector for the

WA Cricket Association.

all HAE EHA members are required to

be accredited by 1 January 2018;

• training in sales, customer service

and digital marketing will also be key

topics;

and

• lack of innovation

in manufacturing

to productivity and

profitability;

and an outdoor

area there is space

for more than 60 companies to display

and demonstrate their products and

services.

sought-after speaker. Kim’s presentations

are entertaining, informative and

motivational and include many humorous

anecdotes.

Kim also auctioned some authentic

signed Kim Hughes and Donald Bradman

cricketing memorabilia in support of

the MND (Motor Neurone Disease)

Association for which he is the Patron.

The HRIA and EWPA held a joint WA AGM at the South

of Perth Yacht Club on 1 June which featured legendary

former Australian Cricket captain Kim Hughes as guest

speaker.

“Thanks to the great support of our

members, money was raised auctioning

memorabilia for a great cause,” Brad said.
