Vale Roger Ferrier

The HRIA was recently informed of the sad passing of long-time member, Roger Ferrier.

A friend of Andy Kennard, who wrote: “Roger Ferrier worked as a “Yardman” as we called them in those days servicing customers and equipment. His bright and enthusiastic manner brightened up our customers’ days with his regular merry banter. Roger was also quite cheeky, in an enjoyable way. We had a retired gentleman, Alf, who worked closely with Roger and from whom he was on the receiving end of his humour. Alf one day thought he would get back at Roger and wired up an electrical lead to the work bench so when Roger touched the bench he got a big electrical shock.

“Roger started his own business selling and servicing concrete mixers. He presented us with a Lightburn concrete mixer, fully reconditioned and painted in original colours as he said, “I think I owe one to Wally” (my Father). This Mixer is now the proudest item in our museum of old hire equipment at Artarmon.

“Roger, it has been a pleasure to have known you for so many years.”
