Tree, structure and event lighting specialist, Decorative Lighting Company founder Tony Norrie saw a need to develop a compliant, safe fairy light system that was easy to install, reliable and simple to maintain for events and theming, and so conceived Decolight. Decolight is a robust commercial grade lighting system that is flexible and can withstand Australian weather conditions, mainly, high sunshine and torrential rain. “It's important minimum stress is placed on living trees when applying lighting, so, a pliable, end-to-end cable is used and a technique of wrapping and taping to main limbs encouraged,” Tony said. “The end product is a great light system that shines brightly earlier and looks sensational at night, by enhancing trees, buildings, events and landscapes.” The application scope for fairy light systems (and general event lighting) has grown to encompass wedding lights, party lights, corporate events, main street lighting, decoration and Christmas lighting, Tony said. “With more creative design requirement, colour and effect has become an import aspect in LED lighting applications for decoration. New developments to meet customer expectations include: twinkle effect fairy lighting; RGB fairy lights that can be programmable; better colour control of diodes ie: pure white, warm white; looking more dichroic in appearance (bulb like); festoon light lighting; and colour wash effect. “The development of extra low voltage LED lighting has been a huge change. Public bodies now insist on lower voltage in public areas to ensure voltage safety, as well as power savings. Over 80% of the product range now falls in the 24 volt output arena. Transformers have become a vital part of the main range,” Tony said. "The dawn of colour controllable LED lighting has seen Decorative Lighting Company move on with lightweight external flood and garden lights that add excitement and ambiance to theming. “The same simple connection and ‘piggy back’ system as Decolight has been adopted and seen main streets throughout the country ‘light up’. “New product includes LED flood and wash lights in extra low voltage. Table themed LED tea and centrepiece light units. General Christmas lights have always been in store, but are now simply branded LED fairy lights since their seasonal functionality has increased to all year round lighting concepts.” Decorative Lighting Company sources lighting direct from established factories around the world and offers ‘hire or buy’ on most of its ranges from its network of distributors around the country. Decorative Lighting Company offers a specialised installation service for Decolight. “Care is taken by our trained personnel to ensure the trees lit are not stressed and our wrap and tape technique ensures new tree growth is not damaged or hindered in any way,” Tony said. All lights are certified and compliant to AS/NZ 60598.2.20.2002, rated IP 44. Contact: 07 5575 5070 or visit website: www.decolightco.biz
