A new post driver has been launched by
Atlas Copco, the LPD-LD, which is suited to
installing star pickets and round posts up to
62.5mm in diameter, with an adaptor.
It also replaces the two versions of Ground
Rod Drivers, the LGRD T and RV. Two inserts
can be fitted to the new post driver to enable
driving of 16mm or 25mm ground rods,
replacing the need for two separate tools.
During trials and demonstrations, the new
light weight driver was able to drive through
asphalt and road base, powered by an
LP9-20P power pack.
The driver has a service weight, including
tail hoses and adaptor of 18kg and requiring
20l of flow at 80 - 100 bar. To operate in the
ground rod driver role, users insert one of the
two adaptors, 16 or 25mm diameter; lock in
place using the retaining pin, and operate.
The high frequency blow rate and the PTFE type guide bushing help
protect any copper or Zinc coating on rods and help with connecting
additional rods.
When operated with an optional hose-mounted remote-controlled
valve, the drivers can be run with both open- or closed-centre systems.
The LPD-T comes with a standard 0.5m quick release coupling tail
hose and has a build-in start/ stop trigger the operator activates on the
driver. The LPD-RV is supplied with a 2m long tail hose and features
a remote on/off valve that allows the operator to activate the driver
even when placed on top of tall posts.

Honda Australia has launched two Brushcutter accessories including
the easy-to-use Pruner and Hedgetrimmer.
The Pruner accessory will transform the Honda UMK425 or UMK435
Brushcutter into a commercial grade Pruner. Coupled to Honda’s
Advanced 4-Stroke Brushcutters, it is designed for trimming and cut-
ting high branches in both commercial and domestic surroundings.
Equipped with a 12inch guide bar and 3/8inch chain, the Pruner
is lightweight and has an adjustable and automatic chain lubrica-
tion system. The Hedgetrimmer accessory is also designed to attach
to the UMK425 & UMK435. With a 55cm long, double-sided blade
and 180° fully
adjustable system,
it is lightweight,
and features
auto-sharpening
blades protected by
an anti-snapping
guard.
