INDUSTRY IN FOCUS
A new hire business, Petro Hire, has
grown out of industrial and petrochemical
equipment and services provider, Petro
Industrial, to service the major growth area
of fuel tank hire.
A separately owned and managed
business to its originator, Petro Hire
commenced in May earlier this year.
Ranging in size from 400 litre cubes up
to containerised 110,000 litre tanks, Petro
Hire’s fuel tanks are all transportable, made
to lengths and sizes to simplify the shipping
and transporting process.
The cube range is all self bunded, baffled
tanks. Dispensing equipment can be locked
away in a bunded area, even when in use.
All the Standards are covered and there is
110% secondary containment (self bunded).
The cube can feed and return from up to
three generators at once. The Liquitainer
range are all self bunded and designed
to UL/ULC requirements. The tanks have
the strength of a cylindrical tank while
maximising the storage footprint.

figure Tony Crane, Petro Hire has spent

and ensuring they are in

well as promoting the
tank hire business.
“We realised right
away the majority of
our business was going
to be with other hire
companies, to help them
meet demand when their
own tanks might not
be available or readily
accessible.
“Our primary aim was to ensure we built
in a competitive commercial deal for the
hire industry so there is a healthy margin in
it for the hire businesses we sub-hire to,”
Tony said.
Hire options include short term rental or
long term leases with the option to buy.
“Petro Hire has no alliances with any fuel
supplier, so there is no pressure to buy any
brand of fuel. Currently we offer diesel fuel
tank options, and have recently expand into
waste oil and even UPL tanks,” Tony said.
When returned from hire, the tanks
undergo a rigorous cleaning and testing
process to ensure no impurities to
contaminate the next fuel supply.
