INDUSTRY IN FOCUS
West Australian based
McLaren’s Raw Hire has
established itself in the
vehicle hire industry from
humble beginnings in 1998
when McLaren’s Raw Hire
directors Lisa and Sean
Clarke rented out one
Toyota Land Cruiser from
the caravan park where
they lived, in the Pilbara
town of Karratha.
Since then, McLaren’s
Raw Hire has doubled its
turnover annually.
Newly appointed
McLaren’s Raw Hire CEO
Byron Smith said the
company had tripled its
staff numbers over 14 years
and now had a team of
more than 50 employees
operating out of branches in
Port Hedland, Karratha and Perth.
“We are also opening a $2 million
purpose-built branch in Newman in
February next year,” Mr Smith said.
“Our company saw the great potential
of the Pilbara, and we operate with an
ongoing desire to watch the region grow
rapidly and be part of its development.
“We make a point of being involved in
community events as part of the
local landscape in Karratha and
Port Hedland, and we plan to
contribute as much to Newman.”
The Newman branch is part of
the company’s local investment
plan, which includes more than
$50 million over the next year in
land, infrastructure, vehicles and
equipment.
McLaren’s Raw Hire stepped
up its community support this
year, partnering with suicide
prevention group Lifeline WA.
This month also marks the
beginning of a three-year
sponsored partnership with AFL
team West Coast Eagles as the
coaches’ sponsor.
McLaren’s Raw Hire has an
extensive vehicle hire range in the
north-west with a fleet of more
than 1100 vehicles, including
light commercial, buses, trucks, cars,
trailers, custom and specialty vehicles, and
accessories. Contact: 08 9185 6383 or visit:
