Nikken Acquires Chadwick Forklifts

Nikken Corporation has acquired 100% of the shares of Chadwick Forklifts Pty Ltd, making the company a consolidated subsidiary.
Nikken sees overseas expansion as a key driver of its long-term growth. In Australia, where population growth and infrastructure investment are expected to continue, CFL has built a strong forklift rental and maintenance business since 2003.
Supporting the circular economy
The acquisition marks Nikken’s entry into the Australian market, and by sharing the expertise it has developed in Japan, Nikken aims to further enhance CFL’s value.
For more than 30 years Chadwick Forklifts had been a leading supplier in forklift wholesale hire, service and logistics. Their name is synonymous with quality and care.
And their hard work was rewarded in 2021 with winning the HIRE21 Rental Company of the Year (Under $5 million category).
“We see the award as validation and recognition of the contribution we have made to our customers and the industry over the last 10 years,” Shane Mathias, general manager, Chadwick Forklifts, said.
On the recent sale to Nikken, Shane commented on Linkedin: ““There are significant synergies between the two companies who both share a passion for people, culture, service and equipment rentals. Customers in the Australian market will benefit from an ongoing and strengthened focus on the supply of high-quality and innovative material handling assets underpinned with exceptional customer service. We are excited about what the future holds together.”
Known domestically as Rentals no Nikken, they specialise in renting civil engineering and construction machinery, including proprietary equipment like the “Nikken Lift”. Niken is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation and is one of the “big four” rental businesses in Japan, operating over 250 locations with approximately 1.2 million rental products.
Nikken will apply the same approach it uses in Japan, prioritizing safety, respecting local culture and values, and working with communities to support a circular economy through its rental business in Australia.
