EWPA Releases New Guidance for Crawler-Track MEWPs
Crawler-track MEWPs are becoming an increasingly common sight across Australian worksites. Their ability to access soft ground, steep terrain, confined spaces and environmentally sensitive areas makes them a valuable addition to many fleets. However, these unique capabilities also introduce unique risks that operators, supervisors and planners need to understand.
To support industry, the hashtagEWPA has released a new supplementary guidance document on the Safe Use of Crawler-Track MEWPs. The document provides practical guidance on the operating characteristics, stability considerations and hazard controls associated with tracked and crawler-mounted elevating work platforms. It also includes specific guidance for compact crawler booms (spider lifts) and highlights the critical risks associated with loading and unloading activities.
The new guidance document is available now from the EWPA website and should be used alongside the EWPA Good Practice Guide.
