ACCESS IN ACTION New scissor for low-level access and space restricted applications An all-electric, zero-emissions new compact low-level scissor from Genie is providing a safe, productive alternative to ladders. T he new Genie GS-1330m scissor lift offers a maximum platform height of 3.75m (12ft 4in) and a maximum working height of 5.75m (18ft 4in), with a two-person, 227kg (500lb) capacity, and weighing in at only 885kg (1,951lb). Its launch is in response to what the company said is worldwide demand for compact maneuverability in low-level access and space and weight restricted applications. “Low-level access is a growing segment in the aerial access industry, with increasing pressure to replace ladders with safe, productive alternatives,” Kurt Kinder, Genie National Sales Manager, Terex AWP Australia said. “The low-level access segment is poised to replace ladders in applications beyond the typical jobsite, including in industrial and institutional facilities. Additionally, growing need for productive solutions in low floor loading applications is driving innovation in lightweight product segments. The new Genie GS-1330m scissor lift is specifically designed to meet the needs of our customers in the ever-changing global mobile aerial work platform market.” With an efficient, all-electric DC drive system that offers productive power for getting around indoor jobsites with quiet, zero- emissions operation, the Genie GS-1330m scissor lift ensures full day productivity with industry-leading runtime, Kurt said. Operators can drive at full height, and in the stowed position, the Genie GS-1330m scissor lift is capable of climbing up to 25% graded slopes. “Weighing less than 907kg (2,000lb), the Genie GS-1330m scissor lift is able to access jobsites previously off limits to heavier slab scissors and vertical mast lifts in the industry due to passenger elevator capacity limitations,” Kurt said. “The Genie GS-1330m scissor lift features platform load sense, which will help operators understand when they have overloaded the platform. “At Genie, we build high quality and productive machines that offer high rental return on invested capital (rROIC) to customers worldwide and meet regional and global standards.” The Genie GS-1330m scissor lift incorporates the Genie Smart Link control system, offering a familiar interface, as well as fully proportional lift and drive control for precise positioning in the work environment. “The Genie Smart Link control system simplifies troubleshooting with onboard easy to read and user-friendly machine adjustments and diagnostics, and it is compatible with the Genie Tech Pro Link handheld diagnostic tool,” Kurt said. Designed with the operator in mind, the Genie GS-1330m scissor lift is equipped with side-by-side platform guard rails for easy deck extension and retraction. It is engineered with diamond plate platform flooring, which provides a durable, long-life gripping surface. And with the link stack centered under the platform, the operator is provided with a stable feel and optimal comfort while working at height. “The new Genie GS-1330m scissor lift shares significant commonality with the Genie GS scissor lift family, including design features that enhance serviceability. For example, swing-out service trays allow for unobstructed access to all machine components, including the hydraulic and electrical systems, simplifying service and maintenance and ensuring machines can get back on rent, faster,” Kurt said. The Genie parts department ships to locations around Australia with almost all orders processed in 24 hours and are backed by the Genie worldwide product support network. The new Genie GS-1330m scissor lift will be on display at HIRE19, in Melbourne, 22-23 May 2019. n Visit: www.genielift.com Delivery and new order of AWPs increases Manitou fleet After receiving 10 new Manitou 160ATJ+ high capacity 45ft EWPs late last year, Coates Hire placed an order for a further 31 high capacity Manitou access platforms to be delivered in 2019, bringing its total Manitou access fleet to over 80 units in Australia. M anitou said its 160ATJ+ is the only 45ft EWP on the Australian market with a capacity of 400kg (or up to three people), some 75% higher than a standard 45ft EWP. The Manitou 160ATJ + is part of the ATJ Range, features a large basket size of 2.4m x 0.9m, works in a rough terrain environment and the company said it is widely regarded the best articulated diesel range in Europe. Other specs include working height of 16.25m, outreach of up to 8.95m and an overall weight of 8100kg. The platforms include three steering modes, hydrostatic transmission, 4WD, heavy duty axles, underbelly protection and can handle gradients up to 40%. “Only recently over the past 18 months we’ve dabbled in the Manitou Access. Especially around the booms and some of the smaller products, but I would say the 160ATJ+ is a successful product in the access range. It’s really starting to kick some goals for us,” Daniel Goodfellow, Category Manager at Coates Hire said. “It’s a great brand. There’s a great market acceptance here in Australia as being rough and ready and pretty robust. Our customers like the units and for us they’re a good fix,” Daniel said. n Contact: 02 9517 3174 or visit: www.manitou.com The all-electric, zero-emissions new compact low-level scissor from Genie provides a safe, alternative to ladders Coates Hire has a total Manitou access fleet of over 80 units in Australia P42 ACCESS IN ACTION FEBRUARY 2019
