JCB has relaunched the world’s smallest
backhoe, the 1CX can perform tasks
normally tackled by two machines; a skid
steer loader and a mini excavator.
Glenn McLeod, JCB Construction
Equipment Australia (JCB CEA) National
Backhoe Manager said: “We knew there
were operators looking for a machine with
the functionality of both a mini excavator
and a skid steer loader that didn’t
necessarily have the funds or the transport
capability to purchase two machines.
The 50hp (37.3kW) 1CX backhoe
bridges the gap, providing outstanding
cost savings right from the point
of purchase through to ongoing
maintenance.”
With its 360 degree turn axis, the 1CX
features hydrostatic in-seat multifunctional
joystick controls, with forward or reverse
operations possible.
A wide range of attachments are
available which avoids the need to swap
between machines if the task changes
from loading to excavation,” Glenn said.
Attachment options include a six-in-one
shovel for all digging, loading and backfill
tasks and an extending dipper with a
dig depth of 3.05m and a 3.91m ground
level reach providing large excavator
performance in a compact format.
For operators performing hammer
or earth drilling tasks, as standard a
hammer/bi-directional circuit is fitted to
the machine. Operators can also use the
backhoe loader as a power source for a
wide range of hand-held tools including
breakers, water pumps or disc cutters,”
Glenn said.
Best of all, the various attachments can
be fitted to either the front or rear of the
machine making it easy to perform varied
tasks in tight spaces.
Honda Australia and Aussie Pumps have
launched the Aussie Scud pressure cleaner
in Japan.

We used Honda petrol engines after a
series of power-to-performance matching
tests,” Aussie Pumps’ National Pump
Division Sales Manager, Brad Farrugia said.
They stand the test of time, and are
perfect for what we ask our Aussie Scud
to perform. The Scud is like nothing ever
seen before in Japan,” Brad said, who
recently spent a week with one of Japan’s
leading pump manufacturers, Matsusaka
Engineering, as part of the launch.
Japanese buying groups and dealers
were impressed by the product’s clean
functional design, its OH&S friendly
features and powerful cleaning capacity.”

The JCB 1CX backhoe combines the functionality of a mini
excavator and skid steer loader in one
World’s smallest backhoe
For example, you can
move the auger drive unit,
which would normally be
operated from the front of
a skid steer loader, and hang
it off the backhoe when
working in restricted areas.
At just 1.6m wide, it’s
much cheaper and easier to
transport the one machine
to and from various job sites
rather than having to move
two machines,” Glenn said.
