Two new Genie scissor lifts, Genie GS-
4047
and the Genie GS-4069 DC models,
provide new solutions for reliable and safe
access in high indoor spaces and in rough
terrain outdoors.
The new Genie GS-4047 is a purpose
designed full drive-height self-propelled
electric scissor lift that meets the demands
of tightly packed, high rise indoor
spaces. The GS-4047 lifts up to 350kg to a
maximum working height of 13.70m and a
platform height of 11.70m.
With dual front-wheel drive and
zero inside turning radius, combined
with a compact footprint of 2.49m long
and 1.19m wide, the GS-4047 has been
designed for use in lofty spaces where
access is very tight,” Brad Lawrence,
General Manager Genie Australia said.
This is a totally new model which
has been engineered to deliver the best
balance of access height, lift capacity and
powerful drive to meet customers’ needs.
This is a resilient scissor lift which boasts
the latest Smartlink control system and a
host of other features which make this one
of the most durable and reliable models.

These scissor lifts have increased
platform space plus increased lifting
capacity. It’s a win-win on the work site.”
The active oscillating axle is designed so
all wheels remain on the ground to deliver
superior traction even on undulating
surfaces. This is standard on all models and
adds to the versatility of each unit.
Terex AWP engineers have opted for
brushless AC drive motors to power
these new units, which have the added
benefit of running cooler and cleaner
than previous models. AC motors offer
improved battery efficiency, so they deliver
more work hours between charge cycles.
Auto-levelling outriggers provide
exceptional levelling capability, a feature
rarely seen on non-diesel scissor lifts, Brad
said.

Do you engage recruitment or labour
hire firms to supply workers?” Ben
McNulty, an OAMPS insurance broker said.
As you may be aware, when it comes to
labour hire there are insurance issues.
Whether you are utilising labour hire in
scaling up or scaling down your workforce
at short notice; transitioning new workers
from temporary to permanent by utilising
a try before you buy option or hiring
sub-contractors to service or operate your
hired equipment, there are exposures
these hired workers bring to you, the host
employer, that you need to know about
and guard against,” Ben said.
In a recent case, a host employer
had costs of $65,000 after a workers’
Labour hire - guard against workers comp recoveries
compensation insurer brought legal action
against them due to negligence two years
after the incident.
This case involved a labour hire
worker injury as a result of an incident at
a host employer operation. A claim was
made by the worker against the labour
hire company under individual workers’
compensation insurance. However, when
the claim was finalised, the workers’
compensation insurer brought a common
law claim against the host employer
resulting in costs.
What can you do to mitigate such a
claim?
Increasingly more public liability
policies will not cover labour hire or
contractor workers for these types of
exposures or will only do so subject to
high excesses. Declaring these workers is
essential to protect your business.
Specialist insurance advice on how to
manage your risk is essential to engaging
in labour hire arrangements.”
