Another convention is behind us once
again and what a few days it was, great
weather, great numbers and a lot of new
business. The results of the Convention
survey which went out to approximately
800
people, showed some extremely
positive trends.
One of the really exciting results being
over 46% of respondents stating they
would “be purchasing machinery, or
conducting new business with exhibitors at
the exhibition”.
To me this shows a positive result for the
exhibitors who put in a lot of hard work
and effort.
Unfortunately the events industry’s
exhibitor numbers were down this
year; this could be partially due to the
exhibition space selling out in record time,
the location or any number of factors.
However the clear facts remain; this is still
the best way to reach events buyers.
The companies who made the effort
reported brisk business and good sales,
with at least one event exhibitor company
reporting “best results ever”.
If you are looking for reasons not to
exhibit, remember: if you are not at the
exhibition you can be certain you miss
100%
of the business.
Next year sees us back at the Gold Coast
with a revised format that in part reflects
feedback received from exhibitors.
The 2014 exhibition will be bigger and
better than anything we have done to
date, so I urge all event exhibitors to keep
this event uppermost in their thinking.
There will be new companies, new event
products and there will be business to
write and new relationships to be formed,
make sure you book early.
If you don’t intend to book or if you
have any suggestions that can make
the events side of the exhibition more
relevant, I‘d also like to hear from you.
Winter as always seemingly brings a
quiet time to the events industry. Our
operations side of the business might be
slow but it is a great time to catch up on
maintenance, drop in and see long term
clients and plan for the upcoming season.
Time spent on repairs and maintenance
now will be repaid tenfold during the busy
times.
We are continuing to work to find an
acceptable and workable way to live with
the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)
legislation. There will be some advice
issued to members in the near future and
don’t forget a copy of the DDA is on the
HRIA website.
