Royal Wolf has
helped Closed
Loop Turnstile
deliver a container
solution to help
create the world’s
first mobile onsite
recycling facility.
This facility
is designed in
Australia and built
using a modified
40ft shipping
container supplied
by Royal Wolf.
The facility provides
an onsite recycling
solution ideal for large-scale events.
The containerised facility consists of two
separate levels; waste or recyclables are
loaded via a conveyor belt which transports
these materials to its upper level. At this
level recyclables such as paper, plastic and
aluminium are sorted by hand and then
gravity fed into allocated compactors to
form one meter cubed bales. Each bale

is then removed
from site and

new materials
such as plastic
cups, bottles and
other types of
food packaging, all
within a two week
period.
Steve Hunter,
Managing Director
of Closed Loop
Turnstile, said:
“Having worked in
the events industry
for many years I was
aware of the challenges event managers
face when it comes to removing waste and
recyclables from site. I recognised the need
to create a portable recycling facility that
could capture, sort and process waste at the
point and time of generation.”

An industry body is as
strong as the enthusiasm of
its members, and as energetic
as the people who hold
office.
Since this is the first
time many of you will be
hearing from me you may
be surprised to learn, after
many years Geoff Tucker
has relinquished his role as
Events Division President.
So I now have the privilege
of following on with all of
the good work Geoff has carried out during
his term as President.
I would personally like to thank Geoff for
his achievements and constructive efforts in
this role over the past eight years. I believe
we all need to put something back in, make
a difference where we can and in general
leave things better than we find them. I
think we can all agree Geoff has met these
criteria on all levels.
I hope to also serve with the same
enthusiasm and energy, and I will be happy
to listen to all concerns and suggestions.
The Events Division of this vibrant
industry has over the years faced more than
Hitting the ground running
a fair share of challenges. So it will
be no surprise to understand the
upcoming 2012/13 season will be
no different.
The end of the government
diesel fuel rebate that came
into effect on 1 July will have
an immediate upward effect on
transport prices. Members should
make sure they have the up to
date prices from all their transport
suppliers, and also adjust their own
pricing before completing quotes.
We will be continuing to get
further clarification on the PPSA laws and
how these laws impact on events companies;
in particular continuing advice on compliance,
what you will need to do and what is
unnecessary.
Disability access will also be a very hot
topic. The push is for members to comply with
the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).We
are currently developing a submission on this
to the Commission, and will keep members
informed as things progress.
Please let me know how I can help to assist
in improvements in our industry.
